Our adventure started at 9:30 this morning as we woke up and started the day on a good note by volunteering. It was at The Coastal Pet Rescue where we were put to work helping clean out a shed full of pet supplies that had been donated. We were split into teams, one cleaning the shed and another team who helped blow away leaves from the center. At the center, we met all types of cute lovable dogs and cats that we all secretly wanted to take home! A favorite of the group was a cute little dog Zowe and a kitten named Sophie.
Our final destination in Savannah was the Telfair Museums. There are three museums we visited during our tour. The first one was the Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters. Getting to walk through this beautiful place shows you the contrast between how the slaves lived and how the owners lived. It was very eye-opening to see how the two lived not so long ago and how things have changed since then. We then walked over to the Telfair Academy where we had the opportunity to look at incredible artwork and 
even meet the famous “Bird Girl” statue, originally from Bonaventure Cemetery. This statue was also featured on the cover of the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, which we read for class. We then traveled to another famous destination in the city, the Mercer House. This house is so significant because it is very grand and was also the setting of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
We spent the rest of the day traveling to Charleston, South Carolina. After a short drive, we had finally arrived in this beautiful city, where we all look forward to proceeding with our adventures.
