I spent a semester in Florence, Italy at Accademia Europea di Firenze. Classes were Monday through Thursday with Italian every morning at 9am. In my Art History class, I had the opportunity to see and visit many different, beautiful pieces of art and history. Those three months in Florence were some of the best months of my life!" - Ruth, Interior Design: Residential & Commercial Major

Passport, Banking, Phone and Prescription Information
Passport
Start the passport process early if you don't have one OR if your passport will expire within a year of your trip!
Check with your program manager to determine what documents you'll need for the country you're traveling to.
Banking
There are often very high transaction fees if you use your debit card abroad. A prepaid travel card is a good alternative. AAA prepaid travel card is one option.
Always inform your bank that you'll be abroad! Some banks require you to go in and sign a form stating the dates and countries of your trip, so don't wait until the last minute to do this.
Exchange your cash before leaving for the airport. Most major banks have decent rates. Many banks won't be able to exchange without some notice, so plan ahead.
Exchange kiosks in major airports are not always open and their rates are high, so do not depend on doing it there.
Phone
Your cell phone provider can help you find an international plan.
Consider how you will want to use your phone while abroad (will you want to text, use GPS?).
TIP: Use free communication apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, & Skype over WIFI as much as possible to save money.
Prescriptions
As with everything else, planning ahead is essential to keep you healthy!
You will need to have enough of your medication with you for your entire stay abroad.
Call your insurance company so they can work with the pharmacist and approve distributing enough of your medication to last.
