Rob Zinkan, EdD

Rob Zinkan, Ed.D., is vice president for marketing leadership at RHB, a higher education consultancy. He leads the firm’s practice in institutional marketing, guiding colleges and universities toward greater relevance and assessing organizational capability. Dr. Zinkan joined RHB in 2019 after more than two decades in higher education administration with a focus on reputation enhancement, resource development, and the breaking down of functional silos. He spent 17 years at Indiana University in a variety of senior roles from campus-level vice chancellor for external affairs to system-wide associate vice president for marketing. A popular speaker, writer, and advisor on higher education marketing, Dr. Zinkan is a regular contributor to Inside Higher Ed and has long been active in associations such as the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the American Marketing Association (AMA). In addition, he is co-author of the 2021 book What Makes a Strategic Plan ‘Strategic’? Dr. Zinkan earned his Ed.D. in interdisciplinary leadership from Creighton University.
