Phyllis Hakeem, MA, CAGS
Phyllis M. Hakeem, C.A.G.S. serves the students at 91快播 University as the Reading Specialist Practicum Program Supervisor and as a faculty member. Mrs. Hakeem has been employed in higher education for the past fourteen years and her academic interests include the neuroscience surrounding the acquisition of language and literacy, reading research, assessment, and Sheltered English Instruction.
Phyllis recently retired from her fifteen-year career as an academic instructional literacy coach and reading interventionist. She maintains her Massachusetts licensure in elementary, reading specialist, moderate disabilities and administration. Phyllis received her BS in clinical psychology from Chestnut Hill College, her MA in religious studies/theology from St. Joseph’s Institute of Religious Studies and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Administration/Reading from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Before entering the field of education, Phyllis was employed as a clinical research coordinator in neurology and as a neuropsychological test administrator at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She was fourth author of an article on the relationship between Parkinson Disease and Olfactory Function. Those experiences in research and assessment continue to inform her work.
In addition, she is a member of the New York State Academy of Teaching and Learning and is a New York Certified Technology Integration Specialist. Among her honors are listings in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities and as an Outstanding Young Woman of America. Among her awards are the Pennsylvania PACE Award for outstanding student of the year, winner of the Delaware Colleges and Universities APA Research Conference, and two certificates from the Eastern American Psychological Association for Excellence in Research.
